"Advocating for our communities and members through collaborative partnerships."
Welcome to NAREB MEMPHIS REALTIST
A Letter From the Desk of Our 25th President
25th Chapter President
I bid you greetings and thanks for your continued support of the Memphis Chapter and our cause that was established in 1947 by several faithful members who in Tampa, Florida saw fit to respond to the injustices in housing that were affecting those of color around the United States by the formation of NAREB.
While the efforts of the National Negro Business League were perfunctory in the 1900's; founded by Booker T. Washington, which proceeded the National Chamber of Commerce in 1912, our various Chapters, especially the Memphis Chapter humbly, yet with the same vigor seek to continue to shed light on the rights still not being fully addressed, nor affirmed by the Fair Housing Act of 1968, and the U.S. Constitution.
As President, it is my goal to Restore, Rebuild, and Renew our commitment to our cause with Respect to the community and the membership by being intentionally inclusive in "Advocating for our Communities through Collaboration and Partnerships." I am aware that as diverse as each of our members and skillsets are, so must our activities and actions be in service. If we are to reach the heights hoped for by those that have gone before us. It is my solemn intent to work with the Executive Board, Past Presidents, Members, Sponsors, and Contributors to see to it that these goals are met.
"There is always time to do the right thing." - Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
With the repeal of the Fair Housing Act of 1967 and the lack of housing stock, NAREB and the Memphis Chapter sees the necessity to bring light and levity around the subject to the community. This invitation only event seeks to open the conversation with those with the power to aid in aiding us in developing viable, sustainable solutions to this problem.
